Text Messaging Opt-In
How customers start (and stop) texting with a DontCall-powered business. Last updated: July 14, 2026
1. How opt-in works
Every business using DontCall receives a dedicated local phone number, which that business publishes as its own contact number — on its website, Google Business Profile, invoices, and signage. A customer opts in by sending the first text message to that number with a question, quote request, or booking request. The business 's automated assistant replies only within that customer-initiated conversation.
All messaging is consumer-initiated customer care. No marketing, promotional, cold, or bulk messages are ever sent. If you have never texted a DontCall-powered number, you will never receive a message from one.
2. What customers see
Wherever a DontCall business publishes its number as a text line, it appears with the disclosures shown in this example:

3. Messaging disclosures
- Consent to receive automated replies is given by initiating a text conversation, and is not a condition of any purchase.
- Message frequency varies based on the conversation.
- Standard message and data rates may apply.
- Reply STOP at any time to opt out. Reply HELP for help.
- Mobile phone numbers, messaging consent, and opt-in data are never shared with, sold, or provided to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
- Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

4. Opting out
Reply STOP to any message to opt out. You will receive a single confirmation that you have been unsubscribed, and no further messages will be sent to your number. Reply START to resubscribe, or HELP for assistance at any time.
5. Business owner signups
Business owners who sign up for DontCall by texting our advertised signup number first receive automated replies — including a one-time welcome message with their new business number — within that same conversation they initiated. Owners who sign up by email on this website receive email only; no text messages are sent to them.
